Cynthia Lietz has been appointed dean of the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University. Dr. Lietz, a President’s Professor of social work, had been the college’s interim dean since July. Before that, she had served as its vice dean since 2016.
Dr. Lietz is a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana. She earned a master of social work degree from Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois, Chicago and a Ph.D. in social work from Arizona State University.
Evelyn Fields, professor of early childhood education at South Carolina State University, has recently been appointed acting dean of the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences. She has been employed at South Carolina State for 21 years and has over 15 years of administrative experience at the university. Previously, Dr. Fields was a program administrator for an early childhood program at the University of South Carolina for 15 years.
Dr. Fields earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in early childhood education from the University of South Carolina.
Anne-Marie Deitering, who has served as interim university librarian and held a series of leadership roles at Oregon State University during the past 18 years, has been named the Donald and Delpha Campbell Dean of Libraries at the university. Before being named interim dean, Deitering served as Oregon State’s associate university librarian for learning services for four years.
Deitering holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania. She earned a master’s degree in history at Syracuse University in New York and a master’s degree in library science at Emporia State University in Kansas.
Dr. Hrycyna has served as dean of UC San Diego's School of Physical Sciences for the past three years. She is slated to become the university's next executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on January 1.
Dr. Albin is an associate professor of pediatrics and founding director of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center's culinary medicine program, an initiative that aims to empower people to have a thriving relationship with the food they eat.
Dr. Borzewski has served as the interim provost of the Seminole campus and Health Education Center of St. Petersburg College in Florida for the past year. An alumna of the college, she has worked for St. Petersburg since 1999.
