Three Women Scholars Who Have Been Named to Diversity Positions in Higher Education

Emelyn A. dela Peña is the new vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Most recently, she served as associate vice provost for inclusion, community and integrative learning at Stanford University, a post she has held since 2019. Before joining Stanford, Dr. dela Peña was the inaugural associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs and dean of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. dela Peña is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego. She earned a master’s degree in postsecondary educational leadership from San Diego State University and an educational doctorate in a joint program through the University of California, San Diego, San Diego State University, and California State University, San Marcos.

Keisha Love was appointed vice provost for faculty advancement and academic inclusion at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. Dr. Love came to the University of Cincinnati in 2017 as associate provost for faculty development and special initiatives. Earlier, she was chair of the department of psychological science at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

Dr. Love earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Kentucky State University. She holds a master’s degree in education fromt the University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Tomicka Wagstaff was named vice provost for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. She has been serving as assistant vice president for student access and success at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

Dr. Wagstaff received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in student personnel administration from Buffalo State College in New York. She holds a doctorate in higher education from the University of Rochester.
