Seven Women Appointed to Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Joyce Jenkins was named vice president of academic affairs at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock. She was chair of the department of English and foreign languages at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. She has served on the faculty at Fort Valley State for 26 years.

Dr. Jenkins is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. She earned a Ph.D. in English at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Shelley Dodd was promoted to director of admissions at the University of Wyoming. She has been serving in the post on an interim basis for the past year. Previously, she served as associate registrar, assistant to the vice president for student affairs, and associate director of admissions.

Dodd holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master of public administration degree from the University of Wyoming.

Jacqueline A. Simmons was appointed vice president and general counsel at Indiana University in Bloomington. She is a partner in the Indianapolis law firm Faegre Baker Daniels.

Simmons is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Deborah Cullen was named director and chief curator of the Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Art Gallery at Columbia University in New York City. The appointment is effective on July 1.

Dr. Cullen has been serving as director of curatorial programs at El Museo del Barrio in New York City.

Sharon Butler is the new assistant vice president for human resources at Michigan State University. She was senior associate vice president and chief human resources officer at the University of Cincinnati. She previously was an administrator for human resources at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Butler is a graduate of Indiana State University.

Catherine Earl was appointed associate provost at American Sentinel University, an online educational institution based in Aurora, Colorado. She was dean of nursing at West Coast University.

Dr. Earl holds a master’s degree in nursing from Grand Valley State University in Michigan and a doctorate in public administration from Western Michigan University.

Linda J. Cook was named assistant vice president of communications for the Kansas State University Alumni Association. She is the former director of public affairs for General Motors North America.

Cook is a graduate of Kansas State University and holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
