Daphne Rudicell Robinson Will Be the Last President of Judson College in Alabama

Daphne Rudicell Robinson is the 24th president of Judson College in Marion, Alabama. When she took office on July 19, she became the first woman to lead the women’s college. Her tenure will be short-lived. The college plans to close its doors on July 31.

Robinson has been a member of Judson’s board since 2000 but resigned from that position prior to taking the helm as president. While on the board, Robinson served as secretary and vice chair. She also was a member of the executive committee.

“It’s very surreal and it is an honor to be able to serve my college, to give it a dignified closing,” Robinson said following the announcement that she would serve as president. “In the next couple of weeks, I’ll be looking at what we need to do as far as finalizing the actual working with the creditors and working with the state as far as the records.”

Robinson is a graduate of Fairhope High School in Alabama. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history at Judson College in 1988. She holds a juris doctorate from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

Robinson was the assistant attorney general for the State of Alabama from April 1995 until she retired in March 2020.
