Mary Alice Boyd was appointed chief financial officer and vice president of administration at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has served in the post on an interim basis since July 2020. Boyd joined the staff at the university in 2012 as director of treasury and risk management.
A native of Waynesville, North Carolina, Boyd earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication and a master’s degree in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Annemieke S. Martinez will serve as the interim chief financial officer at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She has been serving as deputy chief financial officer. Earlier, Martinez served as the assistant vice president and chief business officer at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Martinez holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an executive MBA from Georgetown University.
Kristie L. Kenney was appointed vice president for institutional advancement at Talladega College in Alabama. Earlier in her career, she was executive director of the Jackson State University Development Foundation in Mississippi.
Dr. Kenney is a graduate of Tennessee State University, where she majored in agricultural business. She holds a master’s degree in college administration and leadership from Purdue University, and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from Jackson State University.
Joy Scourey was named interim assistant vice president of student financial services at Washington State University. She has been serving as senior associate director since 2012. Scourey joined the staff at the university in 1995. Since 1998 she has coordinated athletic financial aid programs.
Scorey is a graduate of Washington State University.
Shannon Campbell is the new senior associate vice president for coastal operations for the University of Southern Mississippi. She will be the lead administrative officer for the university’s operations in Long Beach, Gulfport, Ocean Springs, and at the Stennis Space Center. Dr. Campbell has been serving as the director of the Trent Lott National Center for Excellence in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Campbell is a graduate of Mississippi State University, where she majored in industrial engineering. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Amy Falls has been named vice president and chief investment officer at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She is the first woman to hold this position. Falls comes to Northwestern from Rockefeller University, a biomedical research institution in New York, where she has served as chief investment officer since 2011. Prior to that, she was the founding chief investment officer of Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts.
Falls is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in history. She holds a master of public policy degree in international development and finance from Harvard University.
Aileen Ugalde was named senior vice president in the Office of the General Counsel at the University of Miami. She began her career at the university almost 30 years ago, when she was recruited as a junior attorney on the medical campus. Ugalde has held a number of other posts, including vice president for government affairs, assistant to the president, and secretary to the board of trustees. In 2008, Ugalde was appointed vice president and general counsel of the university.
Ugalde is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in Latin American studies and international relations. She earned a juris doctorate at the University of Miami School of Law.
Erica Brown Oliver was appointed vice president of institutional outreach and marketing at Pillar College in Newark, New Jersey. She has marketing experience with many organizations including Toys R Us International, Babies R Us, Northstar Travel Media, RWJBarnabas Health, and CarePont Health.
Oliver earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rutgers University and is pursuing an MBA from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.
Kristina Stevens is the new director of mental health for student health and wellness at the University of Connecticut. Earlier, she spent several years working for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
Stevens holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of social work degree from the University of Connecticut.
Krista L. Cortes has been appointed director of La Casa Latina, the main hub for Latinx students at the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a graduate teaching assistant at the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Cortes is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in foreign service. She holds master’s degrees in language and literacy and teacher education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in education from the University of California, Berkeley.
