Cheryl Evans, president of Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, announced that she will retire on June 30. She has served a president of the college for 10 years. Prior to her position at Northern Oklahoma College, Dr. Evans served 17 years at Northwestern Oklahoma State University as an instructor and chair of the communication department on the Alva campus then led the Enid campus.
Dr. Evans was raised in Cherokee, Oklahoma, and completed a bachelor’s degree in mass communications at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She earned a master’s degree in communication at Wichita State University and an educational doctorate at Oklahoma State University.
Janice Gibson, director of development and alumni affairs at Alcorn State University in Mississippi, retired from the university at the end of December after 27 years of service. She was promoted to director of development and alumni affairs in 2012.
Gibson was a 1993 graduate of Alcorn State University and later that year was hired as a secretary in the Office of Alumni Affairs.
After nearly 16 years of serving as president of Delta College in University Center, Michigan, Jean Goodnow has announced she will retire in August. Dr. Goodnow became the fourth, and first woman, president of Delta College in 2005.
Dr. Goodnow is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she earned a doctorate of philosophy in higher education administration, a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
