Three Women Are the Finalists for Dean of Library Affairs at Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Southern Illinois University Carbondale has announced three finalists for its dean of library affairs. The candidates will all be visiting campus for interviews and open forums by the middle of May. All three candidates are women.

Anne Cooper Moore currently is dean of university libraries at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Before assuming her current position in 2008, she taught at Simmons College and was a librarian at the University of Massachusetts.

A graduate of Duke University, Dr. Moore, holds a master’s degree from Boston University and a master of library and information sciences degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a doctorate in educational management and development from New Mexico State University.

Beth McNeil is the associate dean for academic affairs at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is the former associate dean of university libraries at the University of Nebraska.

McNeil holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Illinois. She has completed doctoral studies in human sciences at the University of Nebraska.

Sha Li Zhang is assistant dean for collections and technical services at the University of North Carolina Greensboro Libraries. She has held that position since 2005. Previously, she was a professor and head of technical services at Wichita State University Libraries.

A graduate of Lanzhou University in China, she earned a master’s of library science degree at the University of Tennessee and a doctorate in education from Kansas State University.

Update: On June 5, Anne Cooper Moore was chosen for the post.
