Seven Women Named to New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Heather C. Swain was promoted to vice president for communications and brand strategy at Michigan State University in East Lansing. In 2006 she was hired as assistant vice president for university relations. Since August 2010 she has served as interim vice president for university relations. Previously, she worked in communications at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and at Indiana University.

Swain is a graduate of the College of William and Mary, where she majored in English.

Jordana Pomeroy was appointed executive director of the Museum of Art at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She will assume her new duties in July. Dr. Pomeroy has been serving as chief curator at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., and as a lecturer in the department of art and museum studies at Georgetown University.

Dr. Pomeroy is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. She is the author of Intrepid Women: Victorian Artists Travel (Ashgate Publishing, 2005).

Diane Anci was promoted to vice president for enrollment at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She has served as director of admission at the college for the past 14 years and was interim vice president for enrollment since 2010.

Anci is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.

Kim Keel was named vice president for development and alumni relations at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She has been serving as executive director of the South Carolina Campus Compact, a statewide organization of 16 colleges and universities dedicated to engaging college students in community service.

Keel is a graduate of North Carolina State University. She holds an MBA from Queens University in Charlotte.

Jocelyn Sanders was promoted to director of development for the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. She has been serving as associate director since 2010.

Sanders is a graduate of Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.

Rosemary Scanlon was appointed divisional dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate at New York University. She has been serving as interim divisional dean since last October. She will remain a clinical associate professor of economics at NYU.

Professor Scanlon has been on the faculty at NYU since 2000. Previously she was a visiting research fellow at the London School of Economics and was deputy comptroller for the State of New York and chief economist for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. She is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of New Brunswick.

Joan C. Dunbar was named interim associate vice president of technology commercialization at Wayne State University in Detroit. She has been serving as director of biotechnology development and biomedical innovation at the university’s School of Medicine.

Dr. Dunbar holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Sydney in Australia. She was a postdoctoral fellow in biochemistry at the University of California at Irvine.
