Carol A. Moore is the new interim president of Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. She will serve while the college conducts a national search for a permanent president.
Guilford College enrolls just over 1,500 undergraduate students and a small number of graduate students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 53 percent of the student body.
In March of this year, Dr. Moore announced her decision to step down as president of Columbia College in South Carolina for family and health reasons. Dr. Moore came to Columbia College as interim provost in September 2016 and became interim president in July 2017. She was appointed president in March 2018.
Dr. Moore also has served as interim president of Burlington College in Vermont and is the former president of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont. Before taking the reins of leadership at Lyndon State College in 1998, she was provost and vice president of academic affairs at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Dr. Moore holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from Montclair State University in New Jersey. She earned a Ph.D. in marine biology from Northeastern University in Boston.
