In March of this year, Dr. Moore announced her decision to step down as president of Columbia College in South Carolina for family and health reasons. Dr. Moore also has served as interim president of Burlington College in Vermont and is the former president of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont.
The women leaving their college or university posts are Jane Fernandez, president of Guilford College in North Carolina, Kim Kloeppel at the University of New Mexico, Claire Kaplan at the University of Virginia, Lynn M. Morgan at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and Karen Hammond at Boise State University in Idaho.
The suit alleges that men received advantages in the provision of of equipment and supplies, scheduling of games and practice times, publicity, recruiting, compensation of coaches, academic tutoring, and in medical and training facilities.
Since 2008, Dr. Janes Fernandes has served as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She is the former provost at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. She will begin her new duties on July 1.
