Six Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointment of Women to Dean Positions

Adriana Galván is the new dean of undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles. A member of the UCLA faculty since 2008, Dr. Galván holds the Wendell Jeffrey and Bernice Wenzel Term Chair in Behavioral Neuroscience and is director of the Developmental Neuroscience Lab at the university. Her research focuses on adolescent brain development and behavior, particularly in the domains of learning, motivation, and decision-making.

Dr. Galván earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavior at Barnard College in New York City. She holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Cornell University.

Amy Zeng, an expert in the fields of supply chain management and global logistics, has been named dean of the Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University in Boston. She has been serving as the dean of the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

Dr. Zeng is a graduate of Beihang University in China. She holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in business administration from Pennsylvania State University.

Kathy Berchem will serve as interim dean of the College of Health and Behavior at Lake Superior State Univerity in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Dr. Bercham has served as the chair of the School of Nursing at the university since 2017.

Dr. Berchem is a graduate of the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada, where she majored in sociology. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lake Superior State University, a master’s degree in nursing from Michigan State University, and a doctor of nursing practice degree from Rush University in Chicago.

Betty Telford was recently named dean of the Martha H. Fleer Center for Adult Education at Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after serving as interim dean of the Fleer Center for several years.

Dean Telford joined the Salem College staff in 2007 following a career in public education. She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina, as well as an education specialist degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.

Kimberly Killmer Hollister was appointed dean of the Feliciano School of Business at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Dr. Hollister is professor of information and operations management, who joined the faculty at Montclair State in 1999. She has served as the business school’s vice dean since 2015.

Professor Hollister holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in engineering and applied science, all from the University of Pennsylvania.

Genevieve Durham DeCesaro was named dean of the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts at Texas Tech University. She has been serving as vice provost for academic affairs and is a professor of dance at the university.

Professor Durham DeCesaro is a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She earned a master’s degree and a master of fine arts degree from Texas Woman’s University.
