Beth Young to Lead Rock Valley College in Illinois

The board of trustees of Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois, has named Bath Young as interim president of the institution. She is replacing Doug Jensen who stepped down to become president of Bismarck State College in North Dakota, effective July 1.

Rock Valley College is a two-year public institution that enrolls more than 6,200 students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 55 percent of the student body.

Young has served as Rock Valley’s chief operating officer since December 2019, and as the college’s chief financial officer since 2016. Before arriving at Rock Valley College, Young was the dean of business affairs at Kishwaukee College in Malta, Illinois. She held that post for more than seven years. Young began her career as a math teacher at Burbank High School in California.

Young is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, where she majored in secondary mathematics education. She holds an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University. She is the president-elect of Community College Business Officers, an organization dedicated to continuing education for community college business officers.
