Tawni Hunt Ferrarini, the Robert W. Plaster Professor of Economic Education at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, has received the 2020 Patricia Elder International Award. The honor is awarded jointly by the National Association of Economic Educators and the Council of Economic Education.
The Patricia Elder International Award recognizes “individuals whose outstanding and dedicated service and leadership have had a significant impact on the delivery or enhancement of economic education throughout the world.”
“It is an honor to be the 2020 award recipient, as I’m passionate about bringing the research of economists into the lives and hearts of different groups, such as K-12 teachers and students, journalists and policymakers,” Dr. Ferrarini said. “An exceptional aspect about being at Lindenwood University and receiving this award is that I get to draw international attention to the great things that are happening here on campus.”
Professor Ferrarini joined the faculty at Lindenwood University in 2017. She also serves as the associate director of the Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise and as the founding director of the School of Education’s Economic Education Center. Before joining the faculty at Lindenwood, Dr. Ferrarini was the Sam M. Cohodas Professor of Economics at Northern Michigan University. She is the co-author of Common Sense Economics: What Everyone Should Know About Wealth and Prosperity (St. Martin’s Press, 2016).
Dr. Ferrarini is a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she majored in mathematics. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in economics from Washington University in St. Louis.
