Three Women Appointed to Positions as Dean

Suzy M. Nelson was named dean of the college at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Since 2009 she has been dean of student life at Harvard University. From 1998 to 2005, Dr. Nelson was the Robert G. Engel Associate Dean of Students at Cornell University.
Dean Nelson is a graduate of Potsdam College, a division of the State University of New York. She holds a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a doctorate in higher education administration from Syracuse University.
Lina Obeid was named dean for research and professor of medicine at Stony Brook University in New York. She was the Boyle Professor of Medicine and professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Obeid earned her medical degree at the American University in Beirut, Lebanon. She completed her internship and residency at Duke University.
Katharine Conley was appointed dean of the Faculty of the Art and Sciences at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She is the former dean of the Faculty for the Arts and Humanities at Dartmouth College and was serving as the Edward Tuck Professor of French and Comparative Literature at Dartmouth.
Dr. Conley is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Colorado and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in French from the University of Pennsylvania.
