Three Women Faculty Members Who Are Taking on New Assignments

Northern Pennsylvania Regional College in Warren, Pennsylvania, announced the appointment of Linda M. Fleming as the vice president for academic and student affairs. She most recently served as the dean for the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences and an associate professor at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Fleming earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in music from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Connecticut, a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.

Irene Pittman Aiken, a professor of education and dean of The Graduate School at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, has been voted president-elect of the North Carolina Council of Graduate Schools. Professor Aiken joined the faculty at the univers1ity more than a quarter century ago.

Professor Aiken holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a master’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Mississippi University for Women has named Amber Handy as associate vice president for faculty enrichment and research. Dr. Handy is a tenured associate professor and the founding director of the Connie and Tom Kossen Center for Teaching and Learning at the Mississippi University for Women.

Dr. Handy holds a master’s degree from Trinity College in Dublin and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
