A Half Dozen Women Who Have Been Appointed to University Administration Positions

Boston University’s National Public Radio station named Margaret Low as its new CEO and general manager. Low previously led the live-events strategy at The Atlantic, and prior to that had been senior vice president for news at NPR and a former senior producer for All Things Considered.

Low earned a bachelor’s in English language and literature at the University of Michigan.

Paige Früchtnicht-Ponchak was appointed coordinator of the Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She is the former manager of the Meyers Gallery at the University of Cincinnati.

Früchtnicht-Ponchak received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio and a master of fine arts degree at the University of Cincinnati.

Linda Gunn-Jones was appointed interim director of Title III Services at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was a mental health administrator for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Gunn-Jones is a graduate of North Carolina Central University, where she majored in psychology. She earned a master of social work degree at the University of Michigan and a doctorate in social work from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Simone Himbeault Taylor has been appointed interim vice president for student life at the University of Michigan, effective January 18. Dr. Taylor currently serves as the senior associate vice president for student life. She has been on the staff at the university since 1977.

Dr. Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in botany, a master’s degree in counseling and a Ph.D. in higher education, all from the University of Michigan.

DeLaine Priest was promoted to associate vice provost for student success and advising at the University of Central Florida. She was associate vice president for student success. Dr. Priest joined the staff at the university in 1994.

Dr. Priest obtained her undergraduate degree in business administration and a master’s degree in counselor education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She earned a doctorate in organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Bridget Willeford was named interim director for laboratory animal resources and University Veterinarian at Mississippi State University. Dr. Willeford has served as a clinical veterinarian in the Office of Laboratory Animal Resources since 2004.

Dr. Willeford holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Mississippi State University.
