Seven Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts at Colleges and Universities

Alexandra Hanlon was named director of the Center for Biostatistics and Health Data Science at the Virginia Tech Carilion Health Sciences Campus in Roanoke. She was a research professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hanlon is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology where she majored in mathematical statistics. She holds a master’s degree from the University of California, Irvine and a Ph.D. in statistics from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Lindsey Dreiling was appointed executive director of aviation strategy at the Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus in Salina. She was deputy director of aviation and unmanned aircraft systems for the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Dreiling is an alumna of Kansas State Polytechnic, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in professional pilot and technology management. She earned a master’s degree in student development from Kansas State University.

Karen Davis is the new assistant dean for inclusive excellence in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University in New York. She has been serving in the role on an interim basis since October 2018. Earlier, she was director of career services for the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Syracuse University.

Lisa Stark was named assistant vice president for communications and media at American University in Washington D.C. Previously, Stark was a broadcast correspondent for Education Week and PBS NewsHour.

Stark graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was news director of KALX-FM, the campus radio station.

Marie-Eve Celio was appointed academic coordinator for the Cotsen Textile Traces Study Center at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Celio had worked as a scholar with the George Washington University Museum’s curatorial team since April 2018.

Dr. Celio is a graduate of the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She holds a Ph.D. in art history from the Sorbonne in Paris.

Julie Pickens is the new director of the EAGLE Academy, a comprehensive transitional program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Georgia Southern University. She was employed at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she served as the head of the Jump Start program.

Pickins holds a master of public administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in special education from the University of Illinois.

Doniqua Flack is the new director of campus life at Maryville College in Tennessee. She joined the staff at the college in 2016 and has served as student programming adviser/resident director.

Flack is a 2015 graduate of Maryville College, where she majored in design.
