Rowena Punzalan was appointed an assistant professor of pediatrics with a specialization in hematology and oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She will continue in her role as director of the BloodCenter of Wisconsin.
Dr. Punzalan is a graduate of the University of the Philippines and the Philippines College of Medicine.
Mary Jacobson, an assistant professor of psychology at Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was awarded tenure. She joined the Salem College faculty in 2005.
Dr. Jacobson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. She earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in psychology at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.
Kathleen Sprows Cummings, associate professor of American studies at the University of Notre Dame, was appointed director of the Charles and Margaret Hall Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism at the university. She has been serving as associate director since 2001. She is the author of New Women of the Old Faith: Gender and American Catholic Identity in the Progressive Era (University of North Carolina Press, 2009).
Dr. Cummings holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Scranton. She earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame.
Four years after she was named the first woman president of the University of Texas at Arlington, Dr. Cowley has announced that she will step down and return to the faculty.
Prior to her new role, Dr. Walsh was dean and campus director of the University of Maine at Machias. Before that, she spent more than a decade with St. Bonaventure University in New York.
Dr. Frost has been a member of the Great Falls College community since 2011. For the past six years, she has served as executive director of instruction and student success.
