A Trio of Women Academics Who Have Been Selected for Notable Honors

Mary Alice Bruce, a retired professor from the School of Counseling, Leadership, Advocacy and Design in the College of Education at the University of Wyoming, has won the Wyoming School Counselor Association Service Award. She was a charter member of the organization and has been active within the group since its inception in 2000. She has served on the association’s board, served as its delegate to an American School Counselor Association Conference, and offered numerous professional development sessions at the association’s annual conferences. She has taught and trained school counselors at the University of Wyoming for nearly three decades.

Dr. Bruce is a graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both from Iowa State University.

Michelle Oswald Beiler, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at Bucknell University in Lewsiburg, Pennsylvania, has received the 2019 Transportation & Development Institute Outstanding Younger Member Award. She was honored for her contributions to the field of transportation engineering.

Dr. Beiler is a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where she majored in civil and environmental engineering. She holds a master’s degree in civil engineering, a master’s degree in urban affairs and public policy, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering all from the University of Delaware.

Jingjing Li, the William and Wendy Korb Early Career Professor of industrial engineering at Pennsylvania State University, has been awarded the Chao and Trigger Young Manufacturing Engineer Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. She was honored for her research contributions to the forming and joining of lightweight materials and structures through an understanding of the process-structure-property relationships in thermomechanical processing, the development of new joining technologies for different metals and the invention of several new materials characterization techniques.

Professor Li completed her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan.
