Women Are Appointed to Lead Three Community Colleges

Nancee Sorenson was selected as the next chancellor of Louisiana State University-Eunice. The educational institution offers two-year associate’s degrees, certificate programs, and continuing education. Women make up 72 percent of the approximately 3,200-member student body. Dr. Sorenson has been serving as the president of the Brandon campus of Hillsborough Community College in Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling from Indiana University. Dr. Sorenson earned a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Carlee Drummer will be the next president of Columbia-Green Community College in Hudson, New York. She will take office on July 8. The college enrolls about 1,600 students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 63 percent of the student body. Since 2014, Dr. Drummer has served as president of Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson, Connecticut. Dr. Drummer is a magna cum laude graduate of Wittenburg University in Springfield, Ohio. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Stony Brook University, a campus of the State University of New York System.
Shannon L. Kennedy was appointed president of Rappahannock Community College in Glenns, Virginia. The college enrolls more than 3,200 students. Women make up 64 percent of the student body. Dr. Kennedy has been serving as executive vice president at Cleveland Community College, in Shelby, North Carolina. She has been on the staff there since 2000. Earlier, she taught and was director of foundation and corporate relations for Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. Dr. Kennedy is a graduate if Millersville University in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and a doctorate from North Carolina State University.
