Four Women Faculty Members Earn Promotions at the University of Mobile in Alabama

The University of Mobile in Alabama has announced the promotions of four women faculty members.

Barbara Brousseau was promoted to associate professor of French in the College of Arts and Sciences. She joined the university in 2009 as an adjunct instructor of French. Brousseau is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She earned a master’s degree in French studies at Laval University in Quebec City.

Cassidy Cooper was promoted to associate professor of sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences. She came to the University of Mobile in 2013 as an assistant professor of sociology. Dr. Cooper holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology, all from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Melissa Thomas was promoted to associate professor of kinesiology in the School of Health and Sports Science of the College of Health Professions. She came to the university in 1998 as a graduate assistant in athletic training. Dr. Thomas holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Mobile and an educational doctorate from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama.

Rachael Counselman was promoted to assistant professor of English in the College of Arts and Sciences. She began teaching at the university in 2008 as an adjunct instructor of English. Counselman is a graduate of the University of Mobile, where she double majored in music and French. She holds a master’s degree in education from Northcentral University and a master’s degree in liberal arts from Spring Hill College in Mobile.
