Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointments of Eight Women to Administrative Positions

Allia L. Carter has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer at Virginia Union University. She has been vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at the university since 2017.

Dr. Carter is a graduate of Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in educational administration and higher education from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in higher education administration with a concentration in educational administration and supervision from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Jessica Clark has been named vice president for learning and student services at Northland Pioneer College in Arizona. She currently serves as chair of the Social Sciences and Education division at Western Wyoming Community College.

Dr. Clark is a graduate of Central Washington University where she majored in history and secondary education. She holds a master’s degree in modern European history and a Ph.D. in rural history both from North Dakota State University.

Kathryn Regjo has been named vice president of academic affairs at Colorado Mountain College. She currently serves as the college’s vice president and dean of the Vail Valley campus in Edwards, Colorado.

Dr. Regjo is a graduate of Adrian College in Michigan where she double majored in international relations and German. She holds an MBA from the University of Denver and a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.

Cheryl Brooks has been named associate provost for career and professional development at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has been a member of the university community for the past 16 years, most recently serving as assistant dean for experiential learning and corporate relations and as acting director of the Career Development and Experiential Learning Center in the College of Engineering.

Dr. Brooks holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in environmental science from the University of North Texas, and a Ph.D. in education policy, research, and administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Maura Belliveau has been named the inaugural director of the Center for Diversity and Innovation in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo in New York. She most recently served as an associate professor of managerial sciences at Long Island University-Brooklyn.

Dr. Belliveau is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, where she double majored in psychology and history. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in organizational behavior/industrial relations from the University of California, Berkeley.

Lisa B. Baronio has been named chief advancement officer for the University of Missouri-Kansas City and president of the UMKC Foundation. She currently serves as president of the University of Northern Iowa Foundation.

Baronio is a graduate of the University of Iowa where she earned two bachelor’s degrees in business administration and computer science. She holds an executive MBA from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Michelle L. Webb has been named director of academic assessment at the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah. She will continue to serves in her current role as director of the post-professional doctor of occupational therapy program at the university.

Dr. Webb received her doctorate in occupational therapy from the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2015. She also holds a doctorate in higher and postsecondary education from Argosy University.

Mary Pat McMahon has been named vice provost and vice president for campus life at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She currently serves as dean of student affairs at the School of Arts and Sciences and Engineering at Tufts University in Massachusetts.

McMahon is a graduate of Yale University where she majored in history. She holds a master’s degree in the history of international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Caroline Attardo Genco Named the First Woman President of the University at Buffalo

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
