A Distinguished Group of Women Scholars Who Have Been Appointed to Endowed Chairs

Linda Haddad has been named the Irwin Belk Distinguished Professor of Nursing and the director of the School of Nursing in the College of Health and Human Services at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She also serves as the associate director for graduate programs and has been a faculty member at the university since 2017.

Dr. Haddad holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Jordan University in Amman, Jordan, a master’s degree in community health nursing and public health from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in community health nursing, health promotion, and nursing curriculum from the University of Maryland.

Shelley E. Zuraw has been named a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Georgia. She is an associate professor of art and has been a faculty member since 1993.

Dr. Zuraw holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University.

Darcy Freedman has been named to the Mary Ann Swetland Chair in Environmental Health Sciences and director of the Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She is an associate professor of population and quantitative health sciences.

Dr. Freedman is a graduate of Miami University where she majored in zoology. She holds a master of public health degree in behavioral science from Emory University in Atlanta and a Ph.D. in community research and action from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Nancy C. Jordan has been named the inaugural Dean Family Endowed Professor for Teacher Education at the University of Delaware. She has been a faculty member at the university since 1995.

Dr. Jordan is a graduate of the University of Iowa. She holds a master’s degree in teaching from Northwestern University and an educational doctorate from Harvard University.

Jennifer Adam has been named the Berry Family Endowed Distinguished Professor in the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture at Washington State University. She has been a faculty member in the department of civil and environmental engineering at Washington State since 2008.

Dr. Adam is a graduate of the University of Colorado where she majored in civil engineering. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in civil engineering from the University of Washington.
