Nadine Aubry Named Provost of Tufts University in Massachusetts

Nadine Aubry has been named provost and senior vice president at Tufts University in Massachusetts. She will begin her new duties on July 1, 2019.

Currently, Dr. Aubry serves as a University Distinguished Professor and dean of the College of Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston. Prior to coming to Northeastern, she served as head of the department of mechanical engineering and was the Raymond J. Lane Distinguished Professor and University Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Aubry is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Academy of Mechanics, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Physical Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the National Academy of Inventors. Additionally, she was the recipient of the 2017 G.I. Taylor Medal from the Society of Engineering Science.

Dr. Aubry has held leadership positions in a number of organizations, including chair of the National Academies’ U.S. National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and the American Physical Society’s Division of Fluid Dynamics, governing board member of the National Academy of Engineering Council, and president of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.

Dr. Aubry holds a Ph.D. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Cornell University.
