Eleven Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts at Colleges and Universities

Krista McCallum Beatty has been named director of the Office for International Students and Scholars at Michigan State University. She was director of the International Students and Scholars Office at Iowa State University.

Dr. McCallum Beatty holds a masters of international administration degree from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont, and a doctoral degree in higher education administration from Ohio University.

Cheryl Jones has been named vice president of employee and organizational development for Amarillo College in Texas. She was vice president for human resources at Baptist St. Anthony’s Health System.

Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Abilene Christian University in Texas and an MBA in management from West Texas A&M University in Canyon.

Sherree Wilson has been named associate vice chancellor and associate dean for diversity and inclusion at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She previously led diversity initiatives as an administrator in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and a master’s degree in college student personnel administration and counseling/counselor education and a Ph.D. in higher education administration both from Indiana University.

Garnetta Smith has been named women’s support coordinator for the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary In Louisville, Kentucky. She has worked for the seminary for more than 10 years.

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Southeast and two master’s degrees in biblical counseling and practical theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Johanna Burton has been named director of the Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University. Since 2013, she had been serving as the Keith Haring Director and curator of education and public engagement at the New Museum in New York.

Dr. Burton holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Nevada, a master’s degree in art history, criticism, and theory from Stony Brook University in New York, a master’s degree in performance studies from New York University, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in art history both from Princeton University.

Jessica Hong has been named associate curator of global contemporary art at the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She most recently served as the assistant curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.

Hong holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Barnard College of Columbia University and a master’s degree from the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University.

Allison B. Newhart has been named vice chancellor and general counsel at North Carolina State University. Currently, she serves as associate general counsel at Pennsylvania State University.

Newhart holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and a law degree from Villanova University.

Anne Shoup has been named associate vice chancellor for advancement at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was the assistant dean for advancement at Colorado’s College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Shoup holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Princeton University.

Stephanie Blythe has been named artistic director of the Bard College Conservatory of Music Graduate Vocal Arts Program. She is a world-renowned opera singer and has been associated with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City since 1995.

Blythe is a graduate of the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam where she received a degree in English writing and a degree in music.

Sarah Wake has been named associate vice president for equity at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was associate general counsel at Northwestern.

Wake holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies from Loyola University Chicago and a law degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Martha “Marty” McCampbell has been named general counsel at Saint Mary’s College in Indiana. She was director of diversity, equity, and inclusion and deputy Title IX coordinator at Indiana University, South Bend.

McCampbell holds a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Tennessee.

Ayanna Howard Appointed the Twelfth President of Spelman College in Atlanta

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
