Nine Women Faculty Members Who Are Taking on New Assignments in Higher Education

Min Jung Kim has been named an assistant professor in the department of health, exercise science, and recreation management at the University of Mississippi. She was a sport management instructor at Florida State University.

Dr. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in sports and leisure studies from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, and a Ph.D. in sport management from Florida State University.

Irma Corral has been named assistant dean for diversity and inclusion for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. She will continue to hold her faculty position as an associate professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral medicine.

Dr. Corral holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and a master’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in public health, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from San Diego State University.

Anna Linhoss has been named assistant director of the Northern Gulf Institute and Geosystems Research Institute at Mississippi State University. She is an assistant professor in the department of agricultural and biological engineering.

Dr. Linhoss holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a master’s degree in agricultural and biological engineering from the University of Georgia, and a Ph.D. in agricultural and biological engineering from the University of Florida.

Harriet Stratis has been named one of two 2018-2019 Judith Praska Distinguished Visiting Professors in Conservation and Technical Studies at New York University. She recently retired as senior research conservator at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Professor Stratis holds a master’s degree in art history from New York University.

Tobe Gillogly has been named chair of the department of interdisciplinary health studies in the College of Health Sciences and Professions at Ohio University. She also serves as program director for the bachelor’s degree in integrated health studies, assistant clinical professor, and physical therapist assistant at university.

Professor Gillogly holds a bachelor’s degree in dance and theatre and a master’s degree in child and family studies from Ohio University.

Silvia C. Finnemann has been named the Kim B. and Stephen E. Bepler Chair in Biology at Fordham University in New York. She has been a professor at the university since 2008.

Dr. Finnemann holds a bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. both in biochemistry from the Free University of Berlin in Germany.

Janine Sherrier has been appointed as head of the crop and soil sciences department in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. She was a professor of plant and soil sciences at the University of Delaware.

Dr. Sherrier holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and a Ph.D. in biology from Texas A&M University.

Cristina Magi-Galluzzi has been named director of the Division of Anatomic Pathology in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. She was a professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western University.

Dr. Magi-Galluzzi holds a medical degree from Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona, Italy, and a Ph.D. in oncologic pathology from the University of Verona in Italy.

Jan Holton has been named associate professor of pastoral theology and care at Duke University. She was a faculty member at Yale Divinity School from 2006-2015 and most recently served on the extension ministry with Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services in New Haven, Connecticut.

Dr. Holton holds a bachelor’s degree from Randolph Macon College, a master of divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
