Florida Atlantic University’s New Women in Leadership Program

The College of Business at Florida Atlantic University has announced the establishment of the Kathleen Bush Program for Women in Leadership. The new certificate program has been created to provide highly driven women professionals with the skills necessary to succeed in executive management positions.

Paige Garrido, the assistant director for corporate training and talent development for Florida Atlantic University Executive Education, stated that the course will teach “techniques to overcome subtle gender biases that affect a woman’s ability to advance her career.” Garrido holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, San Diego and an MBA in marketing from Florida Atlantic University.

The founder of the program, Kathleen Brush, is a business executive, strategy consultant, and author. She believes that “so little attention has been given to the hidden bias that exists amongst both men and women; a bias that prevents women from being promoted.” She states that the FAU program has been designed to facilitate the economic, political, and social benefits from gender equality in leadership.

Dr. Brush holds a bachelor’s degree in pre-law studies from the University of Central Florida, an MBA from Florida Atlantic University, and a Ph.D. in management and international studies from the Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.
