New Positions for Six Women Faculty Members at Colleges and Universities

Cindy Limauro was named University Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. This is the highest faculty rank at the university. Professor Limauro teaches lighting design in the School of Architecture and the School of Drama at the university. She is also a partner in the design firm C&C Lighting. Professor Limauro has taught at Carnegie Mellon since 1987 and became a full professor in 2001.

Professor Limauro is graduate of the University of Michigan, where she double majored in theatre and English. She holds a master of fine arts degree in lighting design from Florida State University.

Tanya Sheehan was appointed distinguished scholar and director of research at the Lunder Institute for American Art at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She has been serving as the William R. Kenan Jr. Associate Professor of Art and chair of the art department at the college. Dr. Sheehan joined the faculty at Colby College in 2013. Her latest book is Study in Black and White: Photography, Race and Humor (Pennsylvania State University Press, 2018). An earlier work is Doctored: The Medicine of Photography in Nineteenth-Century America (Pennsylvania State University Press, 2011).

Dr. Sheehan is the editor of Archives of American Art Journal. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in art history from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Holly Storkel, a professor of speech-language-hearing at the University of Kansas, has been given the added duties as associate dean for academic innovation and student success in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. She joined the faculty in 2001.

Professor Storkel is a graduate of Indiana University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in speech and hearing sciences from the University of Washington.

Lisa Willet, a professor of medicine and director of the internal medicine residency program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was named president-elect of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. She will serve one year as president-elect before becoming president of the organization.

Dr. Willet earned her medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Sarah Klotz, who has been serving as an assistant professor of English at Butte College in Oroville, California, has been appointed associate director of leadership and institutional transformation at the Center for Urban Education at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Dr. Klotz is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where she double majored in English and women’s studies. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Davis.

Amy M. Herring was named the Sara and Charles Ayres Professor of Statistical Science in the College of Arts & Sciences at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She joined the faculty last year after teaching for 18 years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Professor Herring is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, where she double majored in English and mathematics. She holds a doctorate in biostatistics from Harvard University.
