Quinnipiac University in Connecticut Names Judy Olian as Its Next President

Judy OlianFor the past 30 years, John L. Lahey has served as president of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He will step down on June 30. The board of trustees has chosen Judy D. Olian as his successor.

Quinnipiac University, located just north of New Haven, enrolls about 7,000 undergraduate students and 2,800 graduate students, according to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 61 percent of the undergraduate student body.

In accepting the post, Dr. Olian said, “Quinnipiac achieves strong alignment between learning and market needs and impacts a broad mix of students and professionals through life-changing development and career opportunities. Quinnipiac is a very nimble, bold and creative institution. I believe that Quinnipiac can be a model for higher education, preparing young people and professionals for work, life and citizenry in the 21st century.”

Dr. Olian currently serves as dean of the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles. She also holds the John E. Anderson Chair of Management. She has served in these roles since 2006.

Dr. Olian is a graduate of Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in industrial relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
