Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, Has Hired Six Women to Tenure-Track Faculty Posts

Hamilton CollegeHamilton College, the highly rated liberal arts institution in Clinton, New York, has announced that there are 13 new tenure or tenure-track appointments for the 2017-18 academic year. Of these, six are women.

Marissa Ambio is a new assistant professor of Hispanic studies. She is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Dr. Ambio holds two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled, “Solidarities in Exile: Cuban Collectives, Nation and New York City’s Spanish-Language Periodicals, 1868-78.”

Stephanie Bahr was appointed an assistant professor of literature. She is teaching an introductory course on Shakespeare. She is writing a book with the tentative title, Reading ‘Martyred Signs’: Reformation Hermeneutics and Literature. Dr. Bahr is a graduate of Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick in Canada and holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mariam Durrani was named an assistant professor of anthropology. She comes to Hamilton College after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr. Durrani is a graduate of the University of Arizona. She holds a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Junqing Jia is a new assistant professor of East Asian languages and literatures. She’s taught Chinese as a foreign language since 2005 at Ohio State University and Williams College. Dr. Jia holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Shanghai Normal University. She earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. at Ohio State University.

Claire Mouflard joins the faculty as an assistant professor of French. She teaches courses in French and English on the topics of contemporary immigrant literature and film within the francophone world. Dr. Mouflard earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France. She holds a second master’s degree from the University of Montana and a Ph.D. in French and francophone studies from the University of Washington.

Natalie Nannas was appointed an assistant professor of biology. She was a Plant Genome National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Georgia. A graduate of Grinnell College in Iowa, Dr. Nannes holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
