Princeton University, the highly rated Ivy League educational institution in New Jersey, has announced that 11 faculty members have been promoted to the rank of full professor. Three of these promotions went to women.
Rachel Z. DeLue was promoted to full professor of art. She specializes in the history of American art and visual culture, with particular focus on intersections between art and science. Professor DeLue is the author of George Inness and the Science of Landscape (University of Chicago Press, 2004) and Arthur Dove: Always Connect (University of Chicago Press, 2016). Professor DeLue holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Abigail Doyle is a new full professor of chemistry at Princeton. She joined the faculty at the university in 2008 and was promoted to associate professor in 2013. Professor Doyle in a native of Princeton, New Jersey. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in chemistry and chemical biology. Dr. Doyle began her graduate studies at Stanford University but completed her Ph.D. in chemistry at Harvard University.
Maria Moreya Garlock was promoted to full professor of civil and environmental engineering. She joined the Princeton faculty in 2002. Earlier, Professor Garlock was a practicing structural engineer designing tall and unique buildings while working for Leslie Robertson Associates in New York City. Dr. Garlock holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in structural engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She also earned a master’s degree in civil engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Dr. Dotson spent six years as president of Yuba College in California. Earlier, she served eight years as a senior administrator with Clover Park Technical College in Washington.
Dr. Shah is the Ursula Geller Distinguished Professor of Research in Cardiovascular Diseases and associate dean for translational research at the Duke University School of Medicine. She will serve as president-elect of the American Heart Association in 2026–2027, followed by a one-year term as president in 2027–2028.
Dr. Batten will become interim president of Horry-Georgetown Technical College on August 1. She most recently served as the two-year college's vice president for student affairs.
Dr. Kahanov became the twentieth president of Notre Dame de Namur University in California on July 1. She previously served as provost at Alvernia University in Pennsylvania, Stockton University in New Jersey, and SUNY Oneonta.
Most recently, Dr. Sanders served as vice president of experiential product management and interim vice president of product and technology at Western Governors University.
