Shabnam Koirala-Azad is the new dean of the School of Education at the University of San Francisco. She has served as interim dean since the beginning of the year. Dr. Koirala-Azad is thought to be first woman of Nepali descent to serve as a dean at a university in the United States.
Dr. Koirala-Azad joined the faculty at the University of San Francisco 12 years ago. She holds a Ph.D. in education from the University of California, Berkeley.
Elizabeth Smith, the Paul M. Dauten Jr. Professor of Biological Sciences at Dartmouth College, was named dean of the faculty at the Ivy League institution. She has served as associate dean of the faculty for the past two years. She joined the faculty at Dartmouth College in 1998 and was promoted to full professor in 2010.
Professor Smith is a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. She earned a Ph.D. in cell and developmental biology from Emory University in Atlanta.
Hallie Hunt was appointed dean of students at California State University, Fullerton. She has been serving as assistant dean of students and director of the Center for Student Conduct at the University of California, Berkeley.
Hunt is a graduate of Occidental College in Los Angeles, where she majored in theatre. She holds a master’s degree on student affairs counseling from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Dotson spent six years as president of Yuba College in California. Earlier, she served eight years as a senior administrator with Clover Park Technical College in Washington.
Dr. Shah is the Ursula Geller Distinguished Professor of Research in Cardiovascular Diseases and associate dean for translational research at the Duke University School of Medicine. She will serve as president-elect of the American Heart Association in 2026–2027, followed by a one-year term as president in 2027–2028.
Dr. Batten will become interim president of Horry-Georgetown Technical College on August 1. She most recently served as the two-year college's vice president for student affairs.
Dr. Kahanov became the twentieth president of Notre Dame de Namur University in California on July 1. She previously served as provost at Alvernia University in Pennsylvania, Stockton University in New Jersey, and SUNY Oneonta.
Most recently, Dr. Sanders served as vice president of experiential product management and interim vice president of product and technology at Western Governors University.
