Barnard College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution for women in New York City, reports that it sent acceptance letters to 1,139 women from around the world inviting them to become members of the Class of 2021. A record number of 7,716 students applied to Barnard College this year, up 8 percent from a year ago and an increase of 30 percent from five years ago. Admitted students come from 47 states and 39 foreign countries.
This admissions cycle has been the most competitive in the college’s 127-year history. Barnard admitted only 14.8 percent of all students who applied for admission. Just three years ago, Barnard admitted nearly one of four of all applicants.
