Ling Hwey Jeng, a professor and director of the School of Library and Information Sciences at Texas Woman’s University, has been installed as president of the Texas Library Association, the largest state library association in the United States. She will serve a one-year term.
Dr. Jeng holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in library and information science from the University of Texas at Austin.
Carol Kim, dean of the Graduate School and a professor of molecular and biomedical sciences at the University of Maine, has been given the added duties of associate vice chancellor for academic innovation and partnerships, effective July 1. Professor Kim joined the faculty at the university in 1998.
Dr. Kim is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts, where she double majored in biological chemistry and philosophy. She earned a Ph.D. in microbiology at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Nadine P. Connor, a professor of communication sciences and disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was named associate vice chancellor for research policy and compliance at the university. She has been serving in the post on an interim basis for the past six months.
Dr. Connor holds a Ph.D. in neurophysiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Karen Petrone was appointed a Distinguished Professor in the department of history in College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky. She joined the faculty at the university in 1994.
Professor Petrone is the author of Life Has Become More Joyous, Comrades: Celebration in the Time of Stalin (Indiana University Press, 2000) and The Great War in Russian Memory (Indiana University Press, 2011). She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan.
Yolanda Griffiths was appointed director of the occupational therapy program at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She has been serving as director of the occupational therapy program at the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. Earlier, she served on the faculty at Creighton University in Omaha.
Dr. Griffiths is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Oklahoma and a doctorate in occupational therapy from Creighton University.
Ana Maria Otamendi was named an assistant professor of collaborative piano at Louisiana State University on Baton Rouge. She will begin teaching this coming fall. She has been serving as a visiting assistant professor for the Moores Opera Center at the University of Houston.
Dr. Otamendi holds a master’s degree in piano performance from the University of Wisconsin and a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Michigan.
AnneMarie Luijendijk, a professor of religion at Princeton University in New Jersey, has been given the added duties as head of Wilson College, a residential community on campus. Professor Luijendijk joined the Princeton faculty in 2006.
Dr. Luijendijk holds a master’s degree in theology from Vrije University in Amsterdam. She earned a doctorate at Harvard Divinity School.
