Four Women Named Distinguished Professors at Indiana University

Indiana University has announced the appointment of nine scholars to the rank of Distinguished Professor. This is the highest academic rank at the university. Four of the nine scholars named Distinguished Professors are women.

Lynda F. Delph is a professor of biology. She has served as president of the American Genetic Association and as vice president of the American Society of Naturalists. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arizona. Dr. Delph earned a Ph.D. at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.

Tatiana Foroud is the Joe C. Christian Professor of Medical and Molecular Genetics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She joined the faculty at the university in 1994 and has served as director of the Division of Hereditary Genomics. Dr. Faroud is a graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut. She earned a master’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and a Ph.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Randy Long is a professor of metalsmithing and jewelry design in the School of Art and Design. Professor Long joined the faculty at Indiana University in 1983. In 2007, she was named Art Educator of the Year by NICHE Magazine. Professor Long holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Diego State University and a master of fine arts degree from California State University, Long Beach.

Robin Newhouse is a professor and dean of the School of Nursing at Indiana University. She joined the faculty at the university in 2015. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She earned a master’s degree from the University of Maryland and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
