Nursing School at Ursuline College in Ohio Enters Into a Partnership

Ursuline College, the educational institution for women in Pepper Pike, Ohio, has entered into a partnership agreement with Ashtabula Country Technical and Career Campus in Jefferson, Ohio. Under the agreement, students will have dual enrollment for a three-year program to become a registered nurse. Then students who complete that curriculum will be eligible to complete a bachelor’s degree from Ursuline College through a one-year online program.

A recent study found that Northeast Ohio will face a shortage of 3,500 nurses by the year 2020. Patricia A. Sharpnack, dean of the Breen School of Nursing at Ursuline College, stated that “this affiliation opens new doors of opportunity for students at a time when the region’s nursing shortage is severe and growing.”

“We are so pleased to welcome A-Tech students to The Breen School of Nursing and offer them excellent and rigorous preparation for a rewarding career in nursing,” Dean Sharpnack added. “I appreciate the spirit of cooperation that enabled us to align curricula and make this opportunity possible for Ashtabula students.”

Dr. Sharpnack is a graduate of Ursuline College. She holds a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Akron in Ohio and a doctor of nursing practice degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
