Lauren E. Lindstrom was named the next dean of the School of Education. She will take office on June 1. Dr. Lindstrom has been serving as associate dean for research and faculty development in the College of Education at the University of Oregon. She has had a 25-year career at the University of Oregon, starting as a researcher for the College of Education while in graduate school. Dr. Lindstrom holds a bachelor’s degree in human services, a master’s degree in special education, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership, all from the University of Oregon.
Elizabeth Spiller was named dean of the College of Letters and Science, effective March 6. Dr. Spiller has been serving as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Earlier, she was associate dean and a member of the English department faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Previously, she served on the faculty at the University of North Texas and Texas Christian University. Dr. Spiller is a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts and holds master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University. She is the author of Reading and the History of Race in the Renaissance (Cambridge University Press, 2011) andScience, Reading, and Renaissance Literature(Cambridge University Press, 2004).
With over 25 years of experience in higher education, business, and public service, Dr. Kollmann has been serving as chancellor of the New Mexico State University Global Campus. She is slated to become the next president of Vermont State University in July.
