In Memoriam: Karen Plotkin, 1957-2016

Karen Plotkin, a retired assistant professor of nursing at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, died late last month. She was 59 years old.
Dr. Plotkin was a graduate of Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts and the Leominster School of Nursing. She began her teaching career in 1993 as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Massachusetts while studying for master’s and doctoral degrees. She was appointed a clinical assistant professor of nursing in 1995 and retired in 2014.
Dr. Plotkin was board certified in home health nursing. Her research focused on adolescent girls who suffer from endometriosis, a disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus.
