Here is this week’s news of grants and gifts that may be of particular interest to women in higher education.
Breneau University in Gainesville, Georgia, is participating in a three-year, $581,000 grant program funded by the Office of Women’s Health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services aimed at reducing sexual assaults on college and university campuses. Funds will be used to provide training on sexual assault prevention, alcohol awareness, and bystander prevention programs.
Purdue University and Washington State University will share a two-year, $589,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study why women in some Muslim nations are more likely to obtain degrees in engineering than women in the United States. Researchers will look at the experiences of women engineers in Jordan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia.
The Wayne State University School of Social Work and the University of Michigan will share a $1.8 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to develop, implement, and evaluation a school-based program aimed at prevent sexual and dating violence among youth.
