Eleven Women Faculty Members Who Are Taking on New Assignments

wei fuWei Fu has joined the faculty at Maryville College in Tennessee as an assistant professor of marketing in the Division of Social Sciences. Previously, she was a visiting assistant professor of marketing at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.

Dr. Wei holds a Ph.D. in retail, hospitality, and tourism management with a concentration in retail and consumer sciences from the University of Tennessee.

mindy-fulliloveMindy T. Fullilove is a new professor of urban policy and health at The New School in New York City. She was a professor of clinical sociomedical sciences and psychiatry at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. She is the author of Root Shock: How Tearing Up City Neighborhoods Hurts America and What We Can Do About It (OneWorld/Ballantine, 2004).

Dr. Fullilove is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree and a medical doctorate from Columbia University.

gergana-deevskaGergana Deevska was appointed an assistant professor of biochemistry with a dual appointment in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the College of Optometry at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky. From 2013 to 2016, she was an adjunct professor at Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington, Kentucky.

Dr. Deevska earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Sofia University in Bulgaria and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia.

iversonSusan Iverson was named professor and director of the proposed higher education leadership concentration in the educational doctorate program at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. She was an associate professor in the College of Education at Kent State University in Ohio.

Professor Iverson is a graduate of Keene State College in New Hampshire, where she majored in English. She holds master’s degrees from Boston College and Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts and an educational doctorate from the University of Maine.

melody-musgroveMelody Musgrove was appointed associate professor of special education and co-director of the Graduate Center for the Study of Early Learning at the University of Mississippi. From 2010 to 2016, she was director of the Office of Special Education Programs at the U.S. Department of Education.

Dr. Musgrove is a graduate of Mississippi College. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi.

autreyRomana Autrey was named an associate professor of accounting at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. She previously taught at the University of Illinois and Harvard Business School.

Dr. Autrey is a graduate of what is now California State University, East Bay in Hayward. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin.

hill-lenaLena Hill, an associate professor of English at the University of Iowa, has been given the added duties of senior associate to the president of the university. Dr. Hill has been on the faculty of the university since 2006 and was awarded tenure in 2013.

Dr. Hill is a summa cum laude graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in English. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Yale University.

persicoClaudia Perisco is a new assistant professor in the department of educational leadership and policy analysis at the University of Wisconsin. She was a research assistant in the department of anatomy and neurobiology at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Dr. Perisco is a graduate of Boston University and holds a Ph.D. in human development and social policy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

qinna-shenQinna Shen is an assistant professor of German at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She was a visiting assistant professor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Dr. Shen is the author of The Politics of Magic: DEFA Fairy-Tale Films (Wayne State University Press, 2015).

Dr. Shen holds a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in German language and literature from Yale University.

lynch-rinaldoNancy Lynch, the NEC Professor of Software Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was named associate chair of the department of electrical engineering and computer science at the university.

Professor Lynch is a graduate of Brooklyn College in New York and holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from MIT.

miller_0Mary Miller, the Sterling Professor of History of Art at Yale University, has been appointed senior director of the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage at the university. She was dean of Yale College from 2008 to 2014.

Professor Miller is a graduate of Princeton University. She holds a master’ degree and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

Ayanna Howard Appointed the Twelfth President of Spelman College in Atlanta

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
