In Memoriam: Elinor Evans, 1914-2016

Elinor Evans, the Albert K. and Harry K. Smith Professor Emerita of Architecture at Rice University in Houston, Texas, died of respiratory failure on August 28 at an assisted living facility in Houston. She was 102 years old.
Professor Evans was a native of Mount Ida, Kansas, but grew up on her parents’ ranch in Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and earned a master’s degree at Yale University.
Professor Evans taught design to first-year students in the School of Architecture at Rice University from 1964 to 1985. She continued to lecture at the school well into her 90s.
