Ten Women Faculty Members Assuming New Roles in Higher Education

moeMegan Moe was promoted to full professor of communication at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. She joined the faculty at the university in 2005.

Professor Moe is a graduate of Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. She holds a master’s degree from the University of California, Davis and a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University.

reyes_thmbBarbara Reyes, an associate professor of history at the University of New Mexico, was named director of the Southwest Hispanic Research Institute on campus. She joined the faculty at the university in 2000 and has served as interim director of the institute for the past two years.

Dr. Reyes holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and communication, a master’s degree in Latin American studies and a Ph.D. in history, all from the University of California, San Diego.

monsonLinda Monson, a Distinguished Service Professor of Music, was named director of the School of Music at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She is the director of keyboard studies at the university.

Dr. Monson holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

chatterjeearchanawebArchana Chatterjee, professor and chair of the department of pediatrics at the School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota, was named chair elect of the Group on Women in Medicine and Science of the American Association of Medical Colleges.

Dr. Chatterjee also serves as senior associate dean of faculty development at the University of South Dakota. Dr. Pune earned her medical degree at Pune University in India. She also holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Julia-AubreyJulia Aubrey, an associate professor of music at the University of Mississippi, was named director of the Gertrude C. Ford Center for Performing Arts at the university. She has been a member of the music department faculty for 21 years. Professor Aubrey also serves director of Opera Theatre at the university.

Professor Aubrey holds a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from the University of Missouri at Columbia.

dysonYarneccia D. Dyson was appointed assistant professor of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was an assistant professor of social work at Benedict College in South Carolina.

A native of Miami, Florida, Dr. Dyson is a graduate of Florida A&M University. She holds a master of social work degree at Florida State University, and a Ph. D. in social work policy, planning, and administration and social science from the Whitney M. Young, Jr. School of Social Work at Clark Atlanta University.

woodErin Wood, an associate professor of psychology at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, has been given the added duties as Title IX administrator at the college. In this role she will report directly to the college’s president.

Dr. Wood holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in behavioral genetics from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

ibsannounceKathryn Graddy, the Fred and Rita Richman Distinguished Professor in Economics at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, was given the added duties of senior associate dean of the university’s International School of Business. She is the former chair of the department of economics at Brandeis.

Dr. Graddy is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans. She holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.

Anna_BranchEnobong Branch, an associate professor of sociology at the University of Massachusetts, was named faculty advisor to the chancellor for diversity and excellence. She was hired as an assistant professor of sociology in 2008 and was promoted to associate professor in 2013.

Dr. Branch is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in biology. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University at Albany of the State University of New York.

Middleton-PollyPolly Middleton is the new director of athletic bands and the assistant director of bands in the department of music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She was the associate director of athletic bands at Virginia Tech and taught advanced keyboard and music education classes.

Dr. Middleton holds bachelor’s and doctoral degree in music education from the University of Illinois. She earned a master’s degree in wind conducting from Indiana University.
