Linda Schott Appointed President of Southern Oregon University

schott0Linda Schott was named the next president of Southern Oregon University in Ashland, effective July 29. The university enrolls about 5,400 undergraduate students and 550 graduate students. Women make up 57 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Schott has been serving as president of the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She is the former dean of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Fort Lewis College in Colorado. She also was associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Michigan University.

Dr. Schott is a graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she majored in history and German. She holds a master’s degree in history and a Ph.D. in history and humanities from Stanford University.
