Kristine Blair was appointed dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Youngstown State University in Ohio, effective May 16. She has been serving as a professor of English at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She has been on the faculty at Bowling Green since 1996. Dr. Blair is the editor of the journal Computers and Composition.
Professor Blair holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University, Sacramento. She earned a Ph.D. in English rhetoric at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Joyce P. Griffin-Sobel was named dean of the College of Nursing at Washington State University, effective May 16. She is a professor and dean of the College of Nursing at the Upstate Medical Center of the State University of New York in Syracuse. Earlier, she was director of undergraduate programs at the Hunter College School of Nursing in New York City.
Dr. Griffin-Sobel is a graduate of Lehman College of the City University of New York. She holds a master’s degree from the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing and a Ph.D. in nursing from New York University.

Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
