Patricia Brooks of the City University of New York, Madeline Clark of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Victoria Kress of Youngstown State University in Ohio, and Rowan Lockwood of the College of William and Mary in Virginia have been elected president of professional academic organizations in their respective disciplines.
Dr. Simon Jones, associate professor of English, has served on the faculty at Pennsylvania State University's Fayette campus for the past 15 years. She will lead the campus' academic operations through the end of 2024.
The four women appointed to endowed chairs are Anita Raj at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans, Rhonda Y. Williams at Wayne State University in Detroit, Amy Laurel Fluker at Youngstown State University in Ohio, and Stacey Abrams at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Delphine Dean was named chair of the department of bioengineering at Clemson University and Ania Jastreboff was appointed director of the new Yale Obesity Research Center. Kia Dolby was appointed professor of digital communication at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia and Amy Laurel Fluker has been granted tenure and promotion to the rank of associate professor of history at Youngstown State University in Ohio.
Alumna Helen K. Lafferty was appointed interim president of Youngstown State University in Ohio, effective January 31, 2023. She has been a member of the university's board of trustees and will resign from that position. Dr. Lafferty is College Professor of the Liberal Arts and Sciences and a full-time faculty member in the department of education and counseling at Villanova University in suburban Philadelphia.
The four women scholars who have been appointed to endowed chairs are Amy Weaver at Youngstown State University, Cynthia Richards at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, Renee Cunningham-Williams at Arizona State University, and Onnolee Nordstrom at North Dakota State University.
Kelly Wilkinson was appointed dean of the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University in Ohio. Jullet Davis Weaver will be the dean of the Blair College of Health at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Karen Gaines was appointed provost and dean of the faculty at Norwich University in Vermont.
The four women appointed to endowed chairs are Sianne Ngai at the University of Chicago, Charmaine Royal at Duke University in North Carolina, Dina Katabi at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Nancy Wagner at Youngstown State University in Ohio.
The four women stepping down from their positions are Jerrilee K. Mosier at Ivy Tech Community College, Jerrilee K. Mosier at Youngstown State University in Ohio, Lisabeth Chabot at Ithaca College in New York, and Lauren Robel at Indiana University.
Anne C. Gilbert is the John C. Malone Professor of Mathematics at Yale University. Martha I. Pallante is the inaugural holder of the Charles Darling Endowed Faculty Chair in American Social History at Youngstown State University and Alina Campan is the inaugural holder of the STRAWS Endowed Professorship of Computer Science at Northern Kentucky University.
