Nancy Uscher, president of the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington, has announced that she will step down at the end of the current academic year in the summer of 2016. She has been president of the college since 2011. Dr. Uscher is the first woman to hold the position of president of the college since Nellie Cornish, who founded the school in 1914.
Dr. Uscher holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, a master’s degree in music from Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System, and a Ph.D. in music from New York University.
Kathleen Pickering, vice provost for undergraduate affairs at Colorado State University, has announced that she is stepping down in order to devote all her energies to research and teaching. She will return to her post as professor in the department of anthropology. Dr. Pickering has been on the faculty of the university since 1997.
Professor Pickering is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and the New York University School of Law. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Katherine M. Kocan, who holds the Walter R. Sitlington Endowed Chair in Food Animal Research at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences of Oklahoma State University, will retire on February 1. She has served on the faculty at the university since 1983.
Professor Kocan is a graduate of Hiram College in Ohio. She holds a master of science in public health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.

Dr. Burris has served as provost of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina for the past four years. She is slated to become the next president of SUNY's Buffalo State University on July 1.
