Princeton University in New Jersey has announced the hiring of 17 new faculty members. Of the 17 new hires, only four are women.
Anna Arabindan-Kesson is a new assistant professor of art and archaeology and African American studies. She came to the Princeton faculty from Temple University in Philadelphia, where she had been an assistant professor since 2014. A scholar of African American art, Dr. Arabindan-Kesson earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Western Australia and her Ph.D. at Yale University.
Nathalie de Leon was appointed an assistant professor of electrical engineering. She will join the faculty for the spring semester. Since 2011, Dr. de Leon has been a postdoctoral fellow studying quantum devices, materials and sensing. Dr. de Leon is a graduate of Stanford University and earned her Ph.D. at Harvard University.
Eve Krakowski was named an assistant professor of Near Eastern studies and Judaic studies. Previously, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University. Dr. Krakowski earned her bachelor’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on women, gender, and social and cultural Jewish history in the medieval Near East.
Kristin Valdez Quade was appointed an assistant professor in the Lewis Center for the Arts and creative writing. She will begin to teach during the fall 2016 semester. Quade is currently a visiting professor at the University of Michigan. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Stanford University and a master of fine arts degree at the University of Oregon.
Dr. Weir is a senior lecturer of global affairs at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. She was recently named the inaugural executive director of the Jackson School's new Center for Peace and the Global Good, a hub for scholars and students working to address challenges in human rights and global health.
Dr. Maggioni comes to her new role with more than 15 years of teaching and leadership experience in higher education. Most recently, she was assistant provost at Massachusetts Bay Community College
Dr. Blankenbaker has served as president of the Tarrant County College Northwest campus since 2017. She recently assumed additional responsibilities as the chief academic officer for the community college's online and in-person campuses.
Most recently, Dr. Hooyman was vice president of academic affairs and provost of Northwest Missouri State University. She was the first woman to serve in that role.
Born and raised in Alaska, Dr. O'Hara previously spent more than two decades with the College of Education at California State University, Sacramento. More recently, she was executive director of Sierra College's Nevada County Campus.
