April Mason Is a Finalist for Chancellor of the University of Arkansas

The University of Arkansas has announced a field of three finalists for the position of chancellor of the flagship campus at Fayetteville. All three candidates will have visited the campus by October 15 for a series of interview and presentations. One of the three finalists is a woman.

MasonApril Mason is provost and senior vice president at Kansas State University. She has served in that role since 2010. Previously, Dr. Mason was a professor of food science and human nutrition and dean of what is now the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University. Before joining the faculty at Colorado State in 2004, Dr. Mason was associate dean for discovery and engagement for the College of Consumer and Family Sciences at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Dr. Mason is a graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in plant physiology and a Ph.D. in foods and nutrition from Purdue University.

Update: On October 21, Joseph E. Steinmetz, provost at Ohio State University, was named chancellor of the University of Arkansas.
