Elizabeth Loboa Will Head the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri

Loboa-Elizabeth1The University of Missouri in Columbia has announced that is has selected Elizabeth G. Loboa as the next dean of the College of Engineering at the university. Dr. Loboa will begin her new job on October 15.

Dr. Loboa has been serving as a professor of material science and engineering at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. At North Carolina State, she was the director of the Cell Mechanics Laboratory. Professor Loboa also is associate chair and professor in the department of biomedical engineering in the joint program operated by North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

“I’m thrilled and honored to have been chosen to lead the College of Engineering as dean,” Professor Loboa said. “The College has a rich history of training the next generation of engineers in a research-filled environment that is focused on advancing technologies here and across the world. The multidisciplinary environment at Mizzou is truly astounding and provides opportunities for creation and translation of cross-cutting technologies at an unprecedented level.”

Professor Loboa is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, where she majored in mechanical engineering. She holds a master’s degree in biomechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University
