Four Women Scholars Honored by National Organizations

AndersonNoma Anderson, dean of the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, has been selected to receive the Honors of the Association Award from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Dr. Anderson will be honored at the association’s annual convention in Denver this November.

Dr. Anderson is a graduate of Hampton University in Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in speech pathology from Emerson College in Boston and a Ph.D. in speech-language pathology from the University of Pittsburgh.

BullardJulie Bullard, a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and director of the master’s degree program in early childhood education at the University of Montana, has been selected to receive the 2015 Outstanding Early Childhood Teacher Educator award from the National Association of Early Childhood Educators. Dr. Bullard will be honored at the association’s annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, this November.

Professor Bullard holds a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate from Montana State University in Bozeman. She earned a master’s degree at Montana State University-Northern in Havre.

alhusenJeanne Alhusen, an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, received the March of Dimes Margaret Comerford Freda Saving Babies Together Award from the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses. She was honored for her research on perinatal depression.

Dr. Alhusen is a graduate of Villanova University in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree from Duke University and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University.

edmondsJoyce K. Edmonds, an assistant professor in the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College, received the 2015 Award of Excellence in Education from the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses.

Dr. Edmonds is a graduate of Florida State University, where she majored in nursing. She holds a master of public health degree from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland and a Ph.D. from Emory University in Atlanta.
